The Hammond-Harwood House Museum has an extensive collection of Peale portraits and landscapes.

This 90 minute curator led tour delves into the fascinating world of the Peale family and their artwork. Highlights include an 1835 Rembrandt Peale painting of George Washington, a 1789 Charles Willson Peale painting of Hester Baldwin Chase, and a rare landscape scene by James Peale.

Special curator led tour that take you on a cross continental journey to see the origin of original artifacts including a silver tea urn from England, a mahogany table made from Cuban wood, and porcelain tea cups from china that would have graced Mrs. Loockerman’s tea table. The half hour lecture will be followed by a 20 minute workshop in our class room to create an 18th century world map complete with fearsome sea monsters.

Tour of the house that compares the customs and social graces of the Loockerman family, who lived in the Hammond-Harwood House in the early 19th century, with those of characters in Jane Austen novels.
