Dear Community Members,

Hammond-Harwood House is gearing up for a beautiful evening on Sunday, September 22, 2019 from 5:30-8 pm where we will be dining under the stars at the new fundraising event, Venice on the Avenue. Why a Venice theme? In designing this house, the 18th century architect, Englishman William Buckland, gained his inspiration from a 16th century Venetian architect, Andrea Palladio (of Palladian window fame). As members of Hammond-Harwood House, you know first-hand the amount of time, effort and money it takes to preserve, protect and restore this beautiful mansion in the heart of downtown historic Annapolis. For example, if you’ve driven by recently, you may have seen that the house is currently encased in scaffolding because the windows are undergoing much-needed restoration, a very expensive project. Generous support from members like you help to make these projects possible.

By attending Venice on the Avenue, you can support the house and have a great time, as well. Fine Italian food such as a pasta bar with several sauces and meat accompaniments, Italian bread, salad, lemon cookies, and a Venetian almond torte are planned. A fantastic array of Italian wines, prosecco, limoncello, and assorted beers will be available for just $5 each. In addition to the food and drink, a mask-making station, cleverly designed sets and lights, Italian music, and a video of Italy will transform the garden into a Venetian tableau. In addition, vendors will be setting up tables to display their wares and handout freebies. For instance, Hobo Bags are generously donating two of their fashionable bags as prizes for raffles.

Please join us at Venice on the Avenue by ordering your tickets today! Tickets are $75 and include one drink coupon, 21+ only, please. You can buy your tickets by calling 410-263-4683 or online at
